Margherita Pizza

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp instant yeast

  • 3/4 cup warm water

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the topping:

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or crushed tomatoes

  • 150 g fresh mozzarella cheese (sliced)

  • Fresh basil leaves

  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Add warm water and olive oil. Knead into a soft dough and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.

  2. Preheat oven: Heat the oven to 220°C (430°F).

  3. Shape the base: Roll the dough into a round pizza base and place it on a greased baking tray.

  4. Add toppings: Spread pizza sauce evenly. Arrange mozzarella slices on top and sprinkle a little salt.

  5. Bake: Bake for 12–15 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese is melted.

  6. Finish: Remove from oven, add fresh basil leaves, and drizzle olive oil.

  7. Serve hot: Slice and enjoy immediately.
